This translation practice report is based on the Chinese-English translation practice of Introduction to Cultural Tourism in Yingkou City(Excerpts).The original text of the translation practice project is selected from the series of cultural columns on the website of Yingkou Municipal Bureau of Culture,Tourism,Radio and Television.The original text introduces the tourist attractions,natural resources,special cuisine and history of Yingkou City,aiming to show the rich tourism resources and a variety of historical and food culture in Yingkou to domestic and foreign tourists,further attract more tourists to travel here,and promote the development of Yingkou’s tourism industry.The words and sentences in this translation material have elegant and euphemistic features of Chinese.A large number of proper nouns,four-character words and culture-loaded words are used to reflect the cultural characteristics,and long sentences,sentences without subjects and rhetorical sentences can best show the characteristics of Chinese complex structures.In the course of the translation study of this tourism text,the translator has also encountered many difficulties.Due to the complexity and rich content of tourism texts,the translator mainly analyzes different types of vocabulary,long and difficult sentences and discourse cohesion through case studies.In particular,words and sentences with cultural characteristics have always been the focus and difficulty of tourism text translation.The translator hopes to provide a reference for tourism translation in the future through the report to enhance the exchange of Chinese and Western cultures and promote the development of China’s tourism.
