| The Pre-Raphaelites and the melancholy mood were born side by side.The melancholy mood is one of the prominent artistic characteristics of the Pre-Raphaelites,and the beauty of melancholy is also interpreted and interpreted by the Pre-Raphaelites.The reason,artistic aesthetics,hidden deep intention and value influence of the melancholy mood presented by Pre-Raphaelite school in the picture are a subject worthy of attention and discussion.The relevant documents of Victorian England,including artists’ biographies and painting catalogs,provide the basis for this study.In this paper,literature analysis,iconography,comparative research and feminist research methods are combined to explain the text content,work background,image content and metaphorical intention of Ophelia.On this basis,the paper attempts to analyze the melancholy mood in the Victorian period and connect it with the Western literary trend of thought in the 19th century.Compared with the melancholia of other countries,it highlights the unique charm and profound cultural connotation of the melancholia of Pre-Raphaelite school.Nowadays,Millesian Ophelia not only serves as a narrative prototype,but also develops into a symbolic concept,which is constantly enriched and extended in painting and film works.Its value and influence are worthy of attention.This paper expounds and analyzes the main sources,specific manifestations,style characteristics and values of Pre-Raphaelite melancholy through five chapters.The second and third chapters introduce Raphael,define the melancholy mood,but also analyze the main source of melancholy mood;The fourth chapter,taking Ophelia by Milles as an example,analyzes the specific expression of melancholy mood from four aspects: text content,work background,image content and metaphorical intention.In the fifth chapter,the melancholism of this school is connected with the Western literary trend of thought in the 19 th century,and compared with melancholism in other cultures,trying to show the uniqueness of the melancholism of the Pre-Raphaelite school.The sixth chapter discusses the value and influence of melancholy in Ophelia by Pre-Raphaelites and Milles.In recent years,the art theory circle has paid more and more attention to the expression of melancholia in artistic creation and the academic research of Pre-Raphaelites.However,the melancholia in the paintings of Pre-Raphaelites is slightly insufficient.The author hopes to analyze the painting Ophelia by Milles.It has a more comprehensive and in-depth cognition and evaluation of the inevitability,existence value and unique artistic charm of the PreRaphaelite melancholy,which provides a small contribution to the study of the Pre-Raphaelite. |
