| This article takes contemporary sculpture as the object of study,and takes the traditional Chinese mythology as the starting point.The paper is based on an exploration of contemporary mythological themes.Based on an exploration of the subject matter,form and cultural connotations of contemporary mythological sculpture,this paper examines contemporary mythological sculpture in six chapters.The first chapter is an introductory section,which briefly describes the purpose and significance of this paper,its innovation and academic value,and also provides an overview of existing research in China.The second chapter provides an overview of Chinese mythological sculpture,firstly defining the scope of the mythological themes that appear in this paper,based on a narrow understanding of the concept of mythology,and then sorting out the emergence and development of Chinese mythological themes in a chronological perspective.The third chapter is the contemporary presentation of mythological themes in sculpture,which is the key chapter of the whole thesis.The first sub-section is divided into four categories based on the sources of mythological themes in artworks,and explains the spiritual core and figures in traditional mythological themes,which are given new interpretations in contemporary sculptures.The third section discusses the use of materials such as metal,ceramics and cowhide,which are widely used in everyday life and have outstanding material characteristics,in contemporary sculpture,giving a new lease of life to traditional themes.In the fourth chapter,artists who have been influenced by traditional mythological themes and their works are listed and analysed,forming their own unique sculptural language and artistic concepts in the field of contemporary sculpture.Chapter 5 is devoted to the significance and value of mythological themes in contemporary sculpture,which is discussed and summarised in two aspects: introspection and reflection from the perspective of the art creator and the establishment of national cultural confidence.The sixth chapter concludes with a summary of the expression and presentation of mythological themes in contemporary sculpture and their relevance. |
