Since the birth of human society, people have not stopped exploring and pursuing justice, and the key to achieving justice lies in how to distribute the social good.Contemporary political philosopher Michael Walzer has proposed a theory of distribution based on social goods that are pluralistic from the standpoint of pluralism. Each social good also has its own social meaning and relatively independent distribution field. There are boundaries between the spheres and each distributive field has independent and autonomous distributive principles;there is no one universal distributive law that can be applied to all distributive fields.Walzer believes that social inequality stems from the dominant good crossing borders, and he proposes a theory of composite equality that is only anti-domination and not anti-monopoly.The composite equality society allows for inequalities in distributive shares within individual spheres, but no single social good can dominate other spheres from beginning to end.Failure in one sphere does not prevent people from succeeding in other spheres, and they also can reduce inequalities in individual spheres by communicating. The distributive justice of Walzer’s theory has a significant actual meaning,of which he not only elaborates and analyzes the nature and boundaries of different good, but also focusing on the specific distribution of these good in daily life.We should also see that Walzer’s theory of distributive justice has certain limitations,so that we can have a clear understanding of the ideological orientation of Walzer’s theory in distributive justice.
