| The selected text is the “Assisting in the Preparation and Planning of a Rigorous Search”,the sixth chapter of Facilitating Effective Sixth Form Independent Learning:Methodologies,Methods and Tools.It mainly introduces how educators can guide students to complete academic information retrieval independently.Based on the linguistic features of the text,this translation practice mainly focuses on the translation of double-dashes,logical connectors and sentences with inanimate subject.Firstly,according to different cohesion functions,the methods of omission,adaptation into single dash or parentheses are adopted respectively for the translation of double-dashes.Then,for the logical connectors,in consideration of the context,the translation methods can be divided into omitting logical connector within sentence and adding logical connector between two independent sentences.In terms of sentences with inanimate subject,the inanimate subject can be translated into object,adverbial or predicate in the target language.It is expected to provide reference for the translation of educational texts in the future. |
