Chinese punctuation is a symbol that assists Chinese characters to record language,and is also an important part of modern Chinese written language,but Chinese punctuation teaching has not been paid attention to in the field of intern ational Chinese language education.Compared with other written languages,Thai written language has its own particularity.To improve the comprehensive Chinese ability of Thai learners,we must pay attention to the acquisition of Chinese punctuation.This paper uses literature research,bias analysis,correlation analysis and other research methods to investigate the use of punctuation marks in 374 Thai learners’ composition test answer sheets in the "HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus".Through the investigation,it can be found that the use of Chinese punctuation marks by Thai learners is as follows: The use of punctuation marks is comprehensive,and learners mainly use thirteen types of Chinese punctuation marks;There is a positive correlation between the punctuation rate and the error rate in the corpus with the composition score of 0-70(excluding 70),and the negative correlation between the usage rate and the error rate in the corpus with the composition score of 70-100.The results of the study show that learners’ punctuation errors are mainly in three categories: format errors,body errors and functional errors.The errors in format are mainly manifested in errors of frame and position,and the errors in function are mainly manifested in punctuation mar ks.Redundancy,lack of punctuation marks and punctuation errors,and the errors in shape show various characteristics according to the shapes of various punctuation marks;the reasons for learners’ punctuation errors are mainly attributed to negative tran sfer of mother tongue and negative knowledge of target language.Transfer,the influence of the learning environment,and the influence of communicative strategies.Based on the research results,this paper puts forward some teaching suggestions based on the existing research results in the field.Hope it can provide useful reference for the teaching of Chinese punctuation in Thailand.
