| Ding Ling is an important writer in the history of modern Chinese literature.She created a large number of characters in her novels from the 1920s to 1940s,including typical images such as Sophie and Mengke.The reasons and artistic techniques of the characters in different periods are also different.The critics’ comments and interpretations of Ding Ling’s creation are relatively profound and from a wide range of perspectives.However,the current academic research on the characters in Ding Ling’s novels is still insufficient.Previous researchers mostly focus on the interpretation of individual characters and lack of systematic analysis of the characters in Ding Ling’s creation.Therefore,this topic takes the character image of Ding Ling’s novels as the research topic,aiming to sort out the main types of her character image,explain the generation factors of her shaping character image,explore the value significance of shaping character image in her novels,and provide necessary supplementary research for Ding Ling’s position in literary history.Starting from the close reading of the text,using the methods of text analysis and comparative research,this paper makes a multi-directional discussion on the characters in Ding Ling’s novels,tries to take Ding Ling’s representative works as the starting point,through the analysis of typical characters,combined with Ding Ling’s personal factors and the background of the times,and then explore the deep significance of the characters.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,the full text is divided into the following three chapters:The first chapter combs out three main characters in Ding Ling’s works through close reading of the text:the image of urban citizens,modern workers and the image of the poor at the bottom and the image of farmers in the liberated areas.In shaping these images,Ding Ling paid attention to expressing their self-improvement in the face of difficulties from the perspective of human nature,and gave them unique sympathy and care.Through the analysis of typical characters,this chapter briefly summarizes the characteristics of each kind of characters,and discusses the generation factors of the three kinds of main characters.The second chapter mainly analyzes the artistic techniques used to shape the characters in Ding Ling’s novels from two aspects:the presentation of multiple perspectives and the unique narrative way.The narrative perspective presented by the narrative subject plays a very important role in the novel,and the novel will have different characteristics because of the change of narrative perspective.A writer’s artistic characteristics and personality can be reflected in the characters he portrays.The third chapter evaluates the value and significance of shaping characters in Ding Ling’s novels.The analysis of the value of the characters is mainly to explore the uniqueness of the characters in Ding Ling’s novels.Ding Ling has created many novel characters with unique personality characteristics and profound connotation.These characters not only enrich the character Gallery of modern and contemporary novels,but also have important social significance and aesthetic value.This chapter analyzes the value significance of the characters created by Ding Ling from two aspects:aesthetic value and social significance. |
