| With the frequent exchanges between countries in science and technology,the translation of sci-tech texts plays an increasingly important role in our society.As the largest developing country in the world,China attaches great importance to international exchange to enhance its sci-tech strength.Therefore,the translation of sci-tech texts conforms to the trend of the times,and the quality of translation directly affects the application and popularization of science and technology among countries.In order to improve the translation quality of sci-tech texts,this paper will further study sci-tech translation under the guidance of Relevance Theory.This report is based on the sci-tech translation practice in Information and Communication Technology class.The text connects smart cities with sustainable development goals,sheds light on the impact of frontier technologies on cities and citizens,and provides insights into the current urbanization trends,which is of great guiding significance for the construction of smart cities in China.Under the guidance of Relevance Theory and the ostensive-inferential model,the translator adopts different translation methods and conducts case analysis of the source text at three levels:lexical level,syntactic and textual level based on its linguistic characteristics,to pursue the optimal relevance between the original readers and the target readers,and to provide feasible translation strategies for scientific and technical translation,so as to provide some reference for future study.This report consists of five chapters,chapter one describes the background and significance of the translation project and give a brief introduction of the source text;chapter two introduces the translation process from three aspects,pre-,during-and post-translation;chapter three is detailed information of Relevance Theory,including ostensiveinferential process and some other important concepts;chapter four is case analysis under the guidance of Relevance Theory from three aspects;and chapter five is conclusion,including the summary,limitations and prospects of the report. |
