The Manchu,as one of the “Sushen Family” in Northeast China,is the ruling ethnic group of China’s last dynasty.Based on the learning of the Han Chinese customs,the fueral ritual is different from the customs of Central China,which occupies an important position in the history of Chinese funeral ritual.In this paper,starting from the handed-down documents of the Qing Dynasty such as Jilin Tongzhi,Man Zhou Si Li Ji,and Ba Qi Tong Zhi Chu Ji,this paper takes Manchu in the northeast region of the Qing Dynasty as the research object and the funeral rituals of Manchu as the research content,and makes a panoramic description of Manchurian funeral rituals.From the perspective of anthropology,combined with Manchurian beliefs and views on life and death,this paper analyzes the process of Manchurian funeral rituals and the cultural significance behind the rituals.This paper is divided into three chapters: the first chapter discusses the Manchurian primitive worship and the view of life and death,the Manchu people’s worship of nature and ancestors and cognition of soul determine their way of treating death to a certain extent.The second chapter,based on the handed-down documents,analyzes the process of Manchurian funeral rituals and sacrificial rituals,how the dead separated from the secular world through a series of rituals and reintegrated into the sacred world;The third chapter discusses the power alternation and kinship network from the secular world.
