A Study On The Business Education Of Shanxi Merchants

As a commercial group in Chinese history,the scale of Jin merchants reached its peak in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.With the continuous expansion of the commercial territory,the system of Jin merchants in talent management and business education was constantly improved and strengthened.The Jin merchants have a long tradition of attaching importance to education.Under the influence of Confucian culture and the wind of reteaching,the Jin merchants actively carried out education.Through education,it can not only improve the cultural level and commercial quality of Shanxi merchants,but also improve the status of merchants in the society of "emphasizing the basic and suppressing the end".Under the influence of educational factors and commercial factors,Shanxi merchants gradually paid more attention to the education in the field of commerce.The business education mode of Jin merchants has been constantly explored and formed a set of business education ideas with its own characteristics: the commercial value of educating people and learning,the faith concept of justice for profit and loyalty to others,and the practical concept of emphasizing the combination of knowledge and practice.Therefore,Jin merchants have carried out various forms of business education.The business education of Shanxi merchants starts from the family business initiation,to the selection of shop assistants,to the formulation of rules in the shop,and to the learning of the way of doing business through the writings of merchants.Each process is gradually and closely linked,and finally the whole process of learning business knowledge as an apprentice is completed.The business education of Shanxi merchants is divided into business ethics education and business skills education.Business ethics education includes personal ethics education and industrial ethics education.Business skills education covers language,reading and writing,accounting,goods recognition,road travel and other aspects,which fully meets the needs of Shanxi merchants for business learning.Through business education,Shanxi merchants not only improve their business skills and qualities,but also indirectly influence the local social atmosphere and business environment,and play a positive role in their own business development.This paper is divided into five parts.The first part discusses the reasons why Jin businessmen attach importance to business education from three aspects: history,society and themselves.The second part analyzes the commercial education concept of Shanxi merchants from three aspects: value,practical view and faith view.The third part discusses the four forms of business education in Jin merchants,including the commercial enlightenment in family education,the employment investigation in the selection of clerks,the formulation of rules in the shop and the way of doing business imparted by the writings of merchants.The fourth part combs out the content of business education in Shanxi,including business ethics education and business skills education.Business ethics education includes individual business ethics education and trade business ethics education;Business skills education includes language,calligraphy,letter writing,abacus,bookkeeping and business procedures.The fifth part analyzes and summarizes the influence of the commercial education of Shanxi merchants.The commercial education of Shanxi merchants sharpens their excellent quality,improves their business skills,and plays an important role in forming the local social atmosphere of valuing commerce and emphasizing commerce.
