As an important measure of comprehensive language use ability,English vocabulary has always been the focus of attention at all stages of teaching.However,the current situation of English classes in senior high schools is not optimistic.Many students have difficulty in vocabulary.The main reason is that the current English classroom pays too much attention to the input of students’ language knowledge,and ignores how to guide students to complete the output of vocabulary.The problem of separation of learning and using also makes students lose interest in English vocabulary gradually.Students only passively complete the vocabulary tasks assigned by teachers in English vocabulary teaching,and the vocabulary effect is not ideal.Based on the research and analysis of existing theories and practices,this study attempts to apply multimodal metaphor to senior high school English classes,to explore how this method affects senior high school students’ vocabulary performance and vocabulary ability,and whether it can enable students to obtain positive emotional experience in English vocabulary teaching.In order to explore the problems of this study,the author obtained some enlightenment through the experiment of applying multimodal metaphor to the English class in senior high school: First,when setting up the teaching process of English vocabulary teaching,teachers should follow the teaching concept of "learning and using as one",pay attention to the selection of input materials with appropriate difficulty,and also pay attention to the students’ vocabulary output process.Secondly,teachers need to design appropriate activities to stimulate students’ internal drive in vocabulary and enhance students’ enthusiasm and initiative in vocabulary.Finally,teachers can provide students with more opportunities to cooperate and communicate with other students and teachers through the mutual evaluation between students and students and the timely evaluation between teachers and students in English vocabulary teaching,so as to make the atmosphere of English vocabulary teaching more harmonious.
