The Feminist Thought In Huang Hydrangea

Huang Xiuqiu is an excellent novel reflecting the issue of women’s liberation in the late Qing Dynasty.It recounts the story of Huang Xiuqiu,a woman in the Free Village,breaking through the feudal ethics and leading a group of awakening women to make the Free Village look completely new.It fully reflects the process of new women consciously devoting themselves to women’s liberation and striving for the brightness of the women’s world in the transition period of old and new culture in the early 20 th century.The main content of this paper is the feminist ideology embodied in the text Huang Hydrangea,which is mainly discussed from the following five aspects: The first chapter introduces the historical background and theoretical source of the feminist thought in Huang Xiuqiu.The work is based on the social reality in the late Qing Dynasty.The patriotic upsurge of national salvation and the rise of women’s liberation movement provide the social background,and the introduction of Western advanced ideas and the rise of political literature create a special literary context for it.In the second chapter,the new women’s camp is divided into two types: primary and secondary.The third chapter examines the breakthrough of feminist ideology to the traditional society through specific events such as abstaining from foot binding,reviving women’s education and advocating women’s rights.The fourth chapter affirms the excellent points of this work compared with the women’s liberation novels of the same period,but it is more important to face the limitations of its feminist thoughts.The author puts women in the position of being shaped and regards women as the tools to preserve the nation,ignoring the essence of women’s liberation.The study of the feminist thought in Huang Hydrangea has not only literary value,but also profound social realistic significance for how to truly realize women’s rights and build harmonious gender relations and even social relations.
