| Self-injury behavior,also known as non-suicidal self-injury behavior,refers to those who do not aim at suicide and are not accepted by the social culture,deliberately and repeatedly hurt their own body behavior,including regardless of the motivation and intention of the extent of the case,individuals deliberately and repeatedly change or hurt their own body tissue,such behavior is not recognized by the society,and is not fatal or less lethal.Childhood psychological abuse and neglect refers to the continuous and repeated inappropriate behavior towards children by people who are responsible for the children and close to them.It mainly includes emotional abuse and neglect,such as emotional neglect of children’s needs,indifference,derogation,interference,conniving,intimidation and other behaviors,but does not involve physical or sexual contact.Self-objectification is regarded as a kind of distorted self-cognition,which regards the self as an object to be evaluated only based on the body.It is manifested as excessive attention to the appearance and frequent physical monitoring,which will produce a series of negative effects on the emotions and behaviors of the individual,such as body shame,more anxiety,reduced flow experience,and neglect of the internal state of the body.Objective: To explore the effects of childhood psychological abuse and neglect and self-objectification on high school students’ self-hurtful behavior,and to understand and predict the self-injury behavior of high school students.Research Methods: A total of 615 high school students from four middle schools in Harbin City,Heilongjiang Province,Lishu County,Jilin Province,Dongguan City,Guangdong Province and Hangzhou City,Zhejiang Province were investigated by using the physical Surveillance Scale,the Child Psychological Abuse and Neglect Scale,and the middle school behavior questionnaire.SPSS 26 was used for descriptive statistics,t test,variance analysis and back testing,correlation analysis and regression analysis.AMOS 24 version was used to analyze the confirmatory factors and construct the structural model.Research results:1.Among the 615 high school students tested,the detection rate of self-injury behaviors was 42.6%.There was no significant demographic difference in self-injury behavior.2.There are significant differences in the situation of childhood psychological abuse and neglect among high school students in four demographic variables: grade,place of origin,main guardian and monthly family income.Among them,high school students from urban areas reported more childhood psychological abuse and neglect than those from rural areas.3.There are significant differences in the self-objectization level of the tested high school students in five demographic variables: gender,grade,place of origin,whether they are the only child or not,and monthly family income.Among them,the degree of self-objectification of boys is higher than that of girls.4.Psychological abuse and neglect in childhood are significantly positively correlated with self-injury behaviors,while self-objectification and self-injury behaviors are significantly negatively correlated at the level of 0.01,and self-objectification is not correlated with psychological abuse and neglect in childhood.5.Psychological abuse and neglect in childhood positively predicted self-injurious behavior.Independent variables of childhood psychological abuse and neglect have significant direct effects on dependent variables of self-injury behaviors.Self-objectification plays a partial mediating role in the influence of childhood psychological abuse and neglect on self-injurious behavior.Research conclusion:1.The higher the level of childhood psychological abuse and neglect,the more self-injury behaviors;The higher the level of self-objectification,the less self-injury behaviors;2.There are significant differences in demographic variables between childhood psychological abuse and neglect and self-objectification of high school students;3.There is a significant positive correlation between childhood psychological abuse and neglect and high school students’ self-injury behaviors,and a significant negative correlation between self-objectification and self-injurious behaviors;4.The self-objectification level of high school students plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between childhood psychological abuse and neglect and self-injury behaviors. |
