After the Yuan Dynasty,Zaju of Ming Dynasty,showed a different artistic appearance in both content and structure from Yuan Dynasty Zaju with the intervention of literati creative subjects.Zaju gradually moved from outdoor to literati’s inner homes,transitioning from civilian to literati.This not only reflects the gradual enhancement of literati writers’ subjective consciousness,but also represents the development path of Zaju,which emphasizes emotion and elegance,becoming an important tool for literati playwrights to express their emotions and ideas.The Zaju written by Ming Dynasty writers presents a distinct aesthetic taste of literati.From the daily social life of literati to their personal experiences,they have all integrated a strong literati interest.Many playwrights and the protagonists in the play also form an invisible relationship of reflection.Dramatists also incorporate the way of thinking that favors poetry into the creation of zaju,reflecting a new exploration of the art of zaju.The prominent lyrical plot and carefully constructed spiritual world of zaju express the author’s pursuit of talent,while also maximizing the literary needs of literati.In terms of structural form,zaju breaks away from the Yuan style and gradually develops towards a more flexible and free direction.For example,the emergence of a large number of exquisite and compact single fold plays,and the trend of music towards freedom in the fusion of northern and southern songs demonstrate the author’s literary spirit of striving for excellence in various aspects.In addition,due to the continuous changes in the ideological trend and social environment of the times,there is a trend of returning to the ancients in the ideological concepts of zaju.Both the writers themselves and the editors of the publication have expressed the idea of following the ancients as examples and creating Ming Dynasty literature,which is also worth our attention.The Shengmingzaju published in the reign of Ming Emperor Chongzhen is the largest and most abundant collection of Ming Dynasty literati dramas known to the academic community at present.Its selected writers and works are also quite typical and representative.Studying mainly two episodes of Shengmingzaju is conducive to a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the works.In a word,the study of the literatiization of Ming Dynasty dramas is not only conducive to understanding the complex literati mentality of writers,but also provides a more detailed understanding of the transformation and development of the era of dramas.
