A Study On The Comical Style Of Xu Zhuodai’s Novels

As one of the representative writers of the Mandarin Duck and butterfly School,Xu Zhuodai’s novels have a wide range of materials and a large number of readers,and are quite popular,among which the most famous comic novels.Through close reading of the text,this paper focuses on the most distinctive funny style of his novels,and studies and analyzes the expression of funny style in theme implication,character image and artistic technique.On the basis of clarifying the influence of the context of The Times and the writer’s life on his creation,this paper analyzes the evolution and presentation of the funny style in different periods,and concludes that the funny style combines philosophy,irony and entertain ment.Then the author explores the literary history significance of comic style and the contemporary significance of comic literary view condensed by writers in literary creation practice.This paper is divided into six parts.The first part is the introduction,which combs the academic research status of Xu Zhuod ai’s novels,determines the concept of "funny" used in this paper,and puts forward the research significance and innovation points of this paper.The second part organizes the novel by layers and analyzes the performance of the funny style in the theme implication.It includes the disclosure of the current situation of social antics,from focusing on society to focusing on people,dedicated to the construction of an imaginary world,depicting all kinds of social antics,showing profound thematic implications.The third part,on the basis of sorting out the theme,classifies the image types of funny characters.Xu Zhuodai is committed to creating the main prankster,rigid mechanical charact ers,caricature clowns and urban horseman characters,including fraudsters and pranksters,ad vocates and implementors of new social concepts,new characters,fashionable girls and so on.Through the portrayal of the characters,the ugliness in the funny is revealed,and the social reasons behind it are deeply analyzed.The fourth part focuses on the specific expression of comic style in artistic characteristics.Xu Zhuodai is good at showing the funny aspects of life through the plot layout of funny fragments,the creative skills rich in funny effects,and the humorous language features,which mainly include the structure of broken pieces,suspense,contradiction and coincidence setting s,the use of psychological description,exaggeration,irony and displacement,the use of Wu d ialect,flexible collocation words,the use of homonics and advertising slogans,to enhance the comic effect of the novel.The fifth part explores and analyzes the changing process of Xu Zhuo’s funny style in dif ferent periods and analyzes the reasons for its formation.The author’s novel creation process i s roughly divided into three periods,and the characteristics of the funny style in different peri ods are analyzed.At the same time,the author’s own personality,early translation and creation,drama and film production experience are discussed on the formationand extension of his fu nny style.The sixth part,based on the first five parts,is in-depth and extended.In a simple compari son with other comic novelists of the same period,it analyzes the uniqueness of Xu Zhuodai’s comic style,including the profound philosophy,mild irony and relaxed entertainment.It also deeply analyzes the significance of Xu Zhuodai’s comic style in the history of literature and th e contemporary significance of caring for the view of comic literature.
