Xu Rulong was an important poet in the middle of Sichuan during the Kang-Qian period of the Qing Dynasty.He was a literati who experienced the last peak of Chinese feudal society.His works can to reflect the changes in ideological trends and the mentality of literati during the Qing Dynasty.At present,the academic research on Xu Rulong mainly focuses on two aspects: the textual research of the character’s life and the analysis of the "plum blossom" poetry.Relatively speaking,there is relatively little research in the academic community on the systematic analysis and poetic exploration of Xu Rulong’s poetry.Based on this,this paper will start with Xu Rulong’s poetry collection,examines his life and social status and analyzes the content and characteristics of his poetry,and explores his poetic views and the origins of his poetry formation.From the content of his poetry,it can be seen that the proportion of poems recording his whereabouts is relatively large,which describes many related scenic spots in Bashu.Due to the profound cultural heritage of these places,the historical connotations of these scenic spots are often mentioned in their poetry.He also has many poems about objects,and among the objects he sings,the two images of plum and crane appear the most,indicating that they hold a prominent position in his heart.Influenced by Buddhist thought,he also has many works praising lotus.Painting poems were prevalent in the Qing Dynasty,and the Xu family also had some painting poems,which promoted the integration of poetry and art in terms of content and were quite distinctive.This article will focus on sorting out the Ba Shu scenic spots and their historical origins in Xu Rulong’s poetry,and analyzing his thoughts expressed in his poetry of chanting objects and inscribing paintings.The four articles included in his poetry collection,"Preface to Mao Zhucang’s Expedition to the Frontier","Preface to Luo Luyou’s Journey","Preface to Xiang Xiuye’s Poetry",and "Discussion of Poetry Treatise with Shen Ziming",reflect his poetic views.He mainly elaborates on his own views from the perspectives of the poet,poetic arrangement,and poetic criticism.Regarding the origin of his poetry,this article mainly starts with his poetry collection,and explores the influence of these three factors on his poetry,combining the cultural environment of the Qing Dynasty,the cultural atmosphere of the Bashu region,and the influence of predecessors.
