A Survey And Research On The Enjoyment Of Chinese Learning Among International Students In Beijing Universities

In recent years,the research of positive psychology in the field of second language acquisition has been increasing,and scholars at home and abroad have begun to pay attention to the positive emotions of learners in the process of second language acquisition,especially the impact of enjoyment emotion on learners.The Chinese language enjoyment mentioned in this study refers to the good emotions generated by learners of Chinese as a second language when learning Chinese.The purpose of this study was to investigate the enjoyment of foreign students in Beijing who study Chinese as a second language when learning Chinese.The study also discussed the relationship between personal factors such as gender,age,number of languages mastered,time spent learning Chinese,and HSK level and the enjoyment of learning Chinese.The research object of this study is 63 international students from different countries in Beijing.The research method is questionnaire survey.To analyze the collected quantitative data,the researchers used IBM SPSS 26 software to analyze the data using standard descriptions and independent sample t-tests.The analysis of quantitative data shows that the Chinese language enjoyment of international students in Beijing is at a high level.Among the factors that affect respondents’ Chinese language enjoyment,teacher and peer factors rank first,classroom environment factors rank second,and learners’ own internal factors rank third.There is no significant difference between Chinese language enjoyment and learners’ own factors such as gender,age,number of languages mastered,and time spent learning Chinese.Through comparison of mean data,this study found that the higher the number of languages mastered,the longer the time spent learning Chinese,the higher the level of Chinese language enjoyment.This study conducted a thematic qualitative analysis of the collected open-ended questions and found that the Chinese language enjoyment of international students in Beijing mainly comes from four levels:the teacher and peer level,the learner’s own level,the classroom environment level,and the Chinese cultural level.Finally,based on the data of this study,this study puts forward some targeted teaching suggestions to help improve the pleasure of foreign students’Chinese learning.This study reflects the level of Chinese learning pleasure among international students in Beijing through survey data,and analyzes the relationship between individual factors of learners and Chinese language enjoyment.It is hoped that this study can provide new ideas for improving learners’ Chinese learning efficiency.
