| Since the late Qing Dynasty,with the invasion of imperialism,Chinese society has fallen into a long-term political crisis and a crisis of meaning,lacking neither a stable and trustworthy government to maintain the survival and development of the nation,nor an effective value belief system to stabilize the generally impetuous spiritual world of the Chinese people.Confucianism,which has maintained the lifeblood of the Chinese nation for thousands of years,is unable to adapt to the new changes of the times because of its rigidity.More seriously,after the collapse of the old value system,the new belief system has not yet been established.It is in this socio-political and ideological context that He Lin attempts to reinterpret Confucianism.He Lin reinterpreted Confucianism based on social reality and the needs of the times,highlighted the political requirements of the nation-state in the midst of cultural issues,and integrated personal morality and social morality into the governance of the nation-state.Based on this,this paper explores the correspondence between national survival and cultural continuity in He Lin’s thought by studying He Lin’s cultural proposition of seeking national survival and rejuvenation through the revival of Confucianism.The main content of this article is divided into three chapters,as follows:The first chapter mainly expounds the problems of Confucianism and the ideological premise of national rejuvenation.The emergence of He Lin’s national rejuvenation ideology was influenced by the social background of the Chinese nation and the import of Western culture at that time,with a strong color of the times and a clear personal will.The crisis of domestic cultural traditions and significance,as well as the political crisis,shaped the idea of national rejuvenation at that time.The second chapter explores the theoretical relationship between the revival of Confucianism and the revival of the nation.From a metaphysical point of view,He Lin pointed out the philosophical basis and direction of Confucian revival to national rejuvenation.First,reviving the confucian view of time and space,freeing it from the control of Western philosophy,avoiding the doom of the Chinese philosophical circles becoming a colony of Western philosophy,and guiding the people’s life and national construction with the Confucian wisdom of the concept of time and space can make the direction of national rejuvenation timely and reasonable,benefit the country and the people.Second,freedom of will can promote political freedom,but it must be regulated by moral freedom,so Confucianism must be revived to cultivate the people’s sense of morality and provide a psychological basis for the Chinese nation to get rid of imperialist control and realize national political freedom.Third,knowledge and action are unified,knowing difficulties and doing easy things,and guiding the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with Confucian thought full of wisdom and knowledge.Fourth,the body of national spiritual morality can promote the political,economic,and military use of the nation,and the unity of body and use is inseparable.Confucianism is originally a moral science,which is the concentrated embodiment of the spirit and morality of the Chinese nation for thousands of years,and the revival of Confucianism can promote national rejuvenation.On the one hand,the third chapter introduces the political demands of the nationstate contained in he Lin’s neo-Confucianism,mainly including sketching the blueprint of national democracy and rule of law with academic construction,and integrating the direction of individual life with the direction of the nation-state with cultural education.That is,He Lin tried to shape a prestigious government and a people who integrated their personal lives into the cause of national rejuvenation through two ways,so as to point out the direction of national rejuvenation.On the other hand,the evaluation of its ideas.He Lin’s idea of national rejuvenation is a combination of epochality and nationality,the historical practice of patriotism in national rejuvenation under the background of the era of war of resistance and salvation,and embodies the political demands and prospects of culturalism.The idea of Confucianizing Western culture in his national rejuvenation ideology to enrich Confucianism contains a unique concept of Communication between Chinese and Western cultures,and the abandonment of traditional Confucianism makes it consistent with the modern nation-state,highlighting the feelings of the nation-state. |
