Listening,speaking,reading and writing are the four important components of language skills.Linguist L.G.Alexander(1988:26)emphasized that “ To listen before you speak,to speak before you read,to read before you write”.“Speaking” belongs to expressive skill,coming in the second place,which emphasizes the importance of spoken English in the language application ability.Anyone who can speak English fluently and express his or her ideas to communicate with others effectively is a proficient English speaker.In the current stage of oral English teaching,English teachers prefer traditional teaching methods in class,such as reciting,imitating,repeating and making dialogues,which lacks innovation and theoretical guidance.What’s more,the situation of the oral English practice is even worse.Most of the teachers ignore the the oral English practice and lack theoretical guidance.Compared with the written assignments,oral English practice after class is not treated seriously.Due to the unsystematic tasks,the single practice and the dull feedback of the oral English practice,the teaching of English speaking is less satisfactory.The English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2011 Edition)emphasizes that students are supposed to take part in a variety of special and comprehensive language practicing activities so that they can develop comprehensive language skills.The English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022 Edition)has been revised and completed and it emphasizes the practicality of the English curriculum even more.It also proposes that students should develop their language ability by perceiving,experiencing,accumulating,and applying the language practicing activities,then they can cultivate language awareness,accumulate language experience and communicate with others effectively and meaningfully.With the higher requirements of the new English Curriculum Standards for students’ oral English proficiency,the English teachers should try their best to improve and innovate oral practicing methods,and perfect oral evaluation methods.Therefore,it’s necessary for students to improve their oral practicing methods,perfect their oral English proficiency and develop English comprehensive application ability.In order to assist the after-school oral English practicing,this study is based on short video shooting methods.With the help of digital information platforms,the short video shooting-related oral English practicing carries out English activity theory of learning which advocates the combination of learning and teaching as well as the creativity-based foundation.It encourages students to put what they have learned into practice according to the actual situation and problems.Based on the Social Constructivist Theory,Input and Output Theory,Zone of Proximal Development and Peer Pressure,this study aims to find the influence of the short video shooting-related oral English practicing to the students’ oral English proficiency.There are two kinds of oral practicing methods in this study: the short video shooting-related oral English practicing method and the traditional Reading-Writing-Reciting oral English practicing method.And the research questions are:(1)Is the short video shooting-related oral English practicing more conductive to improving students’ oral English grades ?(2)What are the effects of the short video shooting-related oral English practicing on the students’ oral English grades?(3)What are the effects of the short video shooting-related oral English practicing on the students’ attitudes towards English learning?This study uses questionnaire methods,interview methods and experimental methods.68 students from four classes were regarded as research subjects to carry out a 16-week teaching experiment in seventh grade of a middle school in Yiyuan County,Zibo.The experimental class adopted the short video shooting-related oral English practicing method while the control class adopted traditional Reading-Writing-Reciting oral English practicing method.Among them,the data analysis was carried out using SPSS26.0 for statistics,and the data was collected from the oral tests,the interview and the questionnaire.The results of the study show that:(1)The short video shooting-related oral English practicing method can improve the students’ oral English grades more obviously.(2)In the experimental class,students of different language levels have different progress in their oral English grades during the oral English practicing process.To be specific,the students in the middle level have the most significant effects,and low level group comes second,while the students in high-level group has the slightest progress.(3)The short video shooting-related oral English practicing method can cultivate students’ interest in learning oral English more effectively.It can also ease students’ anxiety.Thus,the students can become more confident in oral English learning and are looking forward to having the next oral English class.According to the research results,the author put forward relevant suggestions for the teaching and learning of oral English practicing in junior high school.The results of this study will have a certain guiding effect on the teaching of English speaking in junior high school,but there are still some shortcomings that need to be further studied in the future.
