Qufu,as the birthplace of Confucian culture,has numerous relics.In order to commemorate the Holy Ancestor and to showcase his Confucianism and enlightenment,emperors of various dynasties have erected numerous inscriptions in Qufu,forming a major feature of traditional Chinese cultural carriers.Qufu has a plethora of steles,from the Western Han Dynasty to the Republic of China,which have been preserved from generation to generation,with a combination of various forms.The introduction section of this article elaborates on the research purpose and significance,current research status,geographical research scope,research ideas and methods.In Chapter 1,based on first-hand research data obtained through on-site investigations,the author conducted statistics on the quantity,distribution,content,and classification of Qufu inscriptions.Through a large amount of literature data,the author summarized the basic characteristics of Qufu inscriptions: rich in quantity,distinct in themes,diverse in text types,and extremely high historical value in literature;In the second chapter of the paper,the author presents the historical development trajectory of inscriptions with seal inscriptions in Qufu through a series of literature data,and provides an overview of their shape and decoration,as well as the main content and layout of seal inscriptions;The third chapter is the focus of this paper.Through the author’s on-site visit and investigation,a total of 116 pieces of seal inscriptions were collected in the Qufu area.This article mainly focuses on these 116 pieces of seal inscriptions as the research object.By consulting relevant materials,comparative analysis and research are conducted from the aspects of form,decoration,content layout,and style classification.The basic situation and calligraphy style of seal inscriptions in the Qufu area since the Western Han Dynasty are summarized.By sorting and organizing the inscriptions with seal inscriptions in Qufu,different styles of seal script were summarized,including Qin like seal script,Han cast seal script,and Tang like seal script.The differences in seal inscriptions of these different styles were analyzed and studied;In the final chapter of the paper,the author aims to analyze the cultural connotation and political educational function of "respecting Confucius and Confucianism" behind the seal calligraphy.On the basis of explaining the Confucian cultural connotation contained in the seal calligraphy on the Qufu stele,the author aims to obtain richer Confucian cultural information.Based on the educational and artistic aesthetic functions of the seal calligraphy on the Qufu stele,the author reveals the phenomenon of rulers respecting Confucius and Confucianism throughout history.This article provides a comprehensive and systematic review of Qufu inscriptions,and selects seal inscription inscriptions for calligraphy research.This study not only enriches the current lack of systematic research on regional specific calligraphy inscriptions in China,but also provides image data for the development of ancient Chinese seal calligraphy and comprehensively promotes the study of Chinese calligraphy inscriptions.
