Since the great rise of epigraphy in the Qing Dynasty, the rich forms of works and precious artistic values of the Northern Dynasty cliff carvings have always attracted much attention. As an important part of Northern Dynasty calligraphy,Tai’an City is rich in the remains of Northern Dynasty cliff carvings, which were written in the historical period of the common development of various writing styles, and it is of great significance to analyze and organize related works and their artistic value.According to the different geographical location, the Tai’an Northern Dynasty Cliff Inscription can be roughly divided into several areas, and the Cliff Carved Sutra in different regions has different forms of works, and also shows a rich style and face.Of course, there are different cultural backgrounds behind it.Specifically, the Tai’an Northern Dynasty Cliff Carvings are distributed in six mountainous areas, which can be divided into four areas: the coast of Dongping Lake,Ningyang Phoenix Mountain,Xintai Mountain and Taishan Jingshiyu according to geographical location. Each region has its own different inscriptions and forms. The main purpose of this paper is to organize and study and analyze from the aspects of shape, size, content, calligraphy style, etc.,so as to comprehensively and systematically summarize the remains of the Tai’an Northern Dynasty Cliff Inscription.Specifically, the Tai’an Northern Dynasty Cliff Inscription Sutra has rich forms such as inscriptions, inscriptions, inscriptions, and Buddha names, and there are more than 40 related inscriptions. From the perspective of the author of the engraving, the Tai’an Northern Dynasty Cliff Carving Sutra has a very close connection with the Sang’an Daoyi, which is the organizer and participant of most scripture engraving activities, and is also the most important Shudan.Through the analysis and study of this part of the inscription works, this article explores the people and events of the monk An Dao,and summarizes his calligraphy style and causes. The cliff carvings are all distributed among the mountains and wilderness, and are a combination of nature and art,but these works have not been well preserved in history, and to this day, there are still natural threats of weathering erosion, rain flooding, and man-made threats of cultivation of farmland and mountain quarrying. Therefore, this paper records the carved stone works everywhere through field investigation, and combines the existing research results to truly reflect their past and present.Through the in-depth investigation and research of these works, playing the role of recording and protection is another important work that the author hopes to complete. In short, through the above work,it can be found that the Tai’an Northern Dynasty cliff carvings are numerous and rich in form, and the style of writing is mainly between the subordinate and the kai, which has unique research value and is also an important content of epigraphy research and religious history research.Through the analysis and summary of the Tai’an Northern Dynasty Cliff Inscription, and the in-depth discussion of its historical and artistic value,we can have a clearer understanding and grasp of the significance of the Northern Dynasty Cliff Inscription in the history of Chinese calligraphy.
