| This report is a case study of the E-C translation of The Collected Stories of Jean Stafford.It is to give an introduction to the translation task and an analysis of the difficulties encountered in translating literary texts.The report consists of five parts:introduction to the translation task,description of the translation process,theoretical support,case analysis and conclusion.The author first introduces the text content and task significance of the translation task,and then elaborates the translation process,including relevant background information inquiry before the translation,the specific translation process,the summary of the difficulties encountered in the translation and the review of the translation.The fourth chapter of this report is a case study of translation about how to use three rules of Skopos theory in translating this literary text:extension,conversion,and amplification under the guidance of Skopos rule;inversion,division,omission,conversion between Affirmation and negation under the guidance of coherence rule;linear translation and literal translation under the guidance of fidelity rule.Through the analysis of the original text and the translation,the translator explore the advantages of these translation methods as well as the theoretical support Finally,the author summarizes the translation practice and reflects on the translators quality and translation skills in order to improve the translation of similar texts in the future. |
