| With the rapid development of technology,digital and intelligent mobile terminal devices have emerged,bringing great convenience to people’s lives.Mobile technology has not only played a role in promoting the change of mindset,but also strongly promoted the reform in the field of education,and a variety of mobile learning APPs have emerged.Elementary school is the fundamental stage of basic education and a crucial period for learning English,which requires focusing on connecting English knowledge with daily life and contextualizing abstract problems before solving them.However,in the teaching of English in elementary school,there is the phenomenon of disembodied teaching,which makes learning detached from the concrete context and focuses only on the training of a single ability,resulting in the low motivation of students to participate in the classroom,unable to achieve the purpose of "listening,speaking,reading and writing"comprehensive ability to improve,and students’ learning ability and language ability can’ t be fully developed.In the 1980s,embodied cognitive theory emerged,emphasizing the interaction between the body,cognition and the environment,and has received much attention in the field of educational research in recent years.In the context of embodied cognition theory being widely used in education,this topic is based on mobile technology and Internet technology,integrating APP into educational teaching activities,and designing and developing an English learning APP for elementary school from the connotation of embodied cognition theory.In order to summarize the characteristics of embodied teaching in English teaching and the advantages of English learning APP application.Secondly,under the guidance of embodied cognition theory,constructivism theory and second language acquisition theory,the design principles and overall framework of the English learning APP are proposed,taking into account several factors such as the construction of the context,the participation of the body,and the developmental characteristics of cognition,and the English learning APP is developed under Windows 10 system using App Inventor 2.Finally,the APP under the perspective of embodied cognition is tested and improved.Finally,I tested and improved the APP in the embodied cognitive perspective,and put it into the teaching experiment to test its feasibility and impact on students’ language skills and learning abilities.The results of the experiment are as follows:on the one hand,the questionnaire survey confirmed that the experimental class showed significant improvement in five dimensions:language skills,comprehension,constructive ability,learning attitude and problem solving compared with the control class;on the other hand,the English test score data showed that the mean value of the experimental class increased by 11.52%and the standard deviation decreased by 49.92%compared with the control class,indicating that the students’ performance in the experimental class was relatively high and stable.It can be proved that the elementary school English learning APP developed in this paper has a positive effect on students’ learning.The theory of embodied cognition is not only effective in improving students’ English proficiency and stimulating their interest in learning,but also more effective than traditional teaching methods.In the context of embodied cognition,students can actively construct knowledge in a vivid and concrete learning situation,and their motivation to learn is significantly increased and their core literacy is developed,which is a good guide for students’ lifelong learning.The combination of embodied cognition theory and English APP provides a new way and means of learning English in elementary school,which has certain theoretical and practical values. |
