A Comparative Study With Tibetan Text Of The Tangut Version Nyāyabindu

Maāyabindu belongs to the Hetuvidya sutra during the ancient Indian period,was written by Dharmak(?)rti(ca.600—680),an ancient Indian Hetuvidya scholar.It was later retranslated by the Rngog lo ts(?) ba Blo Idan shes rab(ca.1059-1109)and spread in Tibet.The Tangut Version Nyāyabindu is a basic translation of the Tangut Hetuvidya treatise from the Tibetan text,there is still a large gap in the field of its sorting,comparison and interpretation.The main content of this article is to interpret the Tangut Version Nyāyabindu by comparison with Tibetan text.And by the language comparison,the article argues language feature of this Tangut translation,aims to provide a basic material for study of Tangut Buddhism history and the research of Tangut language.The article consists mainly of three chapters,divided into the comparison part and research part.Chapter One makes an systematic sorting to Tangut Hetuvidya texts,and divide the categories of these Tangut Hetuvidya texts.There are a total of 22 unearthe manuscripts of Tangut Hetuvidya texts which have three categories,the Tangut Version Nyāyabindu,interpretation texts of Nyāybindu,other Hetuvidya translations and works.Chapter Two,as the main part of the article,gives an explantion of the Tangut Version Nyāybindu.It adopts the approach that is to explain or understand the Tangut words one by one by comparison with the Tibetan version.The errors in the text,special vocabulary and language phenomena with annotated.Chapter Three is the study of the Tangut Version Nyāyabindu,argues that the translation vocabulary of the Tangut Version Nyāyabindu.Through the comparison of terms in Tangut and Tibetan text,the translation method and characteristics of the term will be summerized,some of these terms involving character names are translated from the Tibetan literally,Sanskrit words are written by transliteration;through the comparison of function words in Tangut and Tibetan text,to helps us to clarify the use of some function words in the Tangut language.In addition,this part also summarizes the different Tangut words to translate one Tibetan word;one Tangut word to translate different Tibetan words with similar meanings,makes us enrich the understanding of the meaning of some words.In the text value analysis section,this paper discusses the value of the Tangut Version Nyāyabindu on the history of Tangut Buddhism and Tibetan Hetuvidya,the Tangut Version Nyāyabindu provides an important reference value for the study of Chinese translation and Tibetan version of Nyāyabindu.
