| This thesis is a practice report on English-Chinese simultaneous interpretation.Based on the English-Chinese simultaneous interpretation practice at the 19th Sino-Japanese International Academic Symposium held at Ningxia University-Shimane University Joint Research Institute in April 2022,the author analyzed the case of this interpretation task using Gile’s Interpretation Comprehension Equation(GICE)as a theoretical framework and proposed specific methods to improve interpretation quality.This report consists of four parts.The first part is the task description,the second part is a summary of GICE,the third part includes specific case analysis and methods to improve interpretation quality,and the final part is the conclusion of the report.In interpretation practice,comprehension is a crucial component.This report takes GICE as a guide and focuses on knowledge of the language,extra-linguistic knowledge,and analytical ability.The report details the difficulties encountered by the author during the interpretation process,including difficulties in the knowledge of the language,such as speaker’s accent,understanding of terminology,difficulties in extra-linguistic knowledge,including specialized knowledge of Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)and scenario information in conference interpretation,as well as difficulties in analytical ability,mainly cognitive and image analysis.Through specific case analysis,the author proposes corresponding solutions by analyzing and summarizing the experience of this interpretation practice.These include sufficient pre-interpretation preparation,content prediction,and other methods.By adopting these methods,interpreters can improve their interpretation skills and quality. |
