| At present,the importance and emphasis of oral English is becoming more and more prominent,but rural students have a low level of oral English and the situation of oral anxiety is not optimistic.By interpreting the 2022 edition of Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards,the author concludes that developing students’ language ability is one of the overall goals of junior high school English curriculum.Junior high school students should be able to communicate with others in English in a meaningful way,and their oral English level should reach the target of level 3.In recent years,English listening and speaking tests have also been included in the scope of junior high school graduation entrance examination.Therefore,teachers,students,schools and other aspects should pay attention to spoken English and make corresponding improvements in order to achieve overall development.The research content of this paper:First of all,the author manages to know about the rural junior middle school students’ oral English anxiety through the distribution of questionnaires and let researchers and rural teachers draw further attention to this problem.Secondly,this study will verify whether oral English anxiety has a negative impact on oral performance.Finally,after exploring and finding out the causes of rural junior high school students’ oral English anxiety,the writer summarizes the teaching strategies to improve students’ oral anxiety,and verifies whether they can improve students’oral performance through practical teaching.In order to solve the problem of rural students’ oral anxiety,the author tries to answer the following four questions through the research:1)What is the current status of oral anxiety in rural middle school students?2)What is the relationship between oral anxiety and oral performance?3)What are the strategies to deal with oral anxiety?4)Do the strategies of coping with oral anxiety in this study improve students’ oral performance?This research adopts qualitative(interview method)and quantitative(questionnaire survey method,oral test paper,SPSS data analysis method)The author took 92 students from class 1 and class2 of Grade 8 in Dongtai School of Zhongwei city as the research objects,and carried out a one-semester teaching experiment.The results show that oral anxiety is common among students;Through the data analysis,it can be concluded that the main factors affecting students’ oral anxiety are classroom anxiety and personality.There is a negative relationship between oral English anxiety and oral English performance,that is,the higher the degree of oral anxiety,the lower the oral performance.And vice versa;In this study,the strategies to deal with oral anxiety can improve students’ oral performance.The coping strategies are as follows:teachers should strengthen self-cultivation,create interesting and diverse classroom activities and a relaxed and free classroom atmosphere as well as use error correction and evaluation methods correctly.Students should overcome psychological barriers,try to express actively in English,establish a correct learning attitude and maintain a moderate intensity of learning motivation,enhance self-confidence,master communication strategies. |
