The Research On The Poems Used In “ErPai”

Shooting Surprise is the first collection of vernacular novels written independently by literati in the history of ancient Chinese fiction,which is created by Ling Mengchu,a writer of the late Ming Dynasty,marking the transformation of Chinese ancient vernacular short stories from adaptation to individual independent creation mode.It reflects a broad picture of social life at the end of the Ming Dynasty,in particularly,the budding of capitalist economy,the development of new business,the rise of the civil class and so on began in the middle of Ming Dynasty.It is a typical written literature in the form of a literati’s novel written in the style of script for telling-story,and represents the highest achievement of the Ming Dynasty’s novel written in the style of script for telling-story.This article takes the poems in Ling Mengchu’s Slap the table in amazement,part I and Slap the table in amazement,part II as the object of study.It is divided into six chapters to analyze and explore the general situation of quoting poetry,the way of quoting poetry,the connotation of quoting poetry,the function of quoting poetry and the characteristics of quoting poetry,as well as the influence of "Erpai" on later novels such as "Twelve Tower" and "Silent Play",in order to explore the relationship between novels and poems and the law of the convergence and integration of elegant and popular literature.The first chapter mainly introduces the general situation of "Erpai" poems.First of all,it defines the concept of "poetry".The concept of "poetry" in this paper has two meanings.First,the "poetry" in the title of "Study on the use of Poetry in ’Erpai’" refers to the "poetry" in a broad sense,including poetry,"ci" and "qu";Second,the "poetry" juxtaposed with "ci" and "qu" is "poetry" in the narrow sense.Secondly,the number of poems used in "Erpai" is summarized and presented in a table.The second chapter analyzed the sources of the poems used in "Erpai",dividing them into three categories: quotations from others,adaptations of others’ poems,and poems suspected to be original to Ling Mengchu,presenting the original sources of the poems in each story in a table,and exploring the patterns of their occurrence.The main framework of the third chapter is the analysis of the connotation of the poems in "Erpai",which is divided into six aspects: persuasion,character description,historical and nostalgic,commentary,description of scenery and display of talent,among which the number of poems in "Erpai" that persuade the world is the largest.The fourth chapter analysed the function of poetry in "Erpai",exploring the role of the fusion of elegant and popular culture by analysing the role of poetic references in "Er Pai" in portraying characters,advancing the storyline,presenting the surrounding environment and enriching the language of the novel.The fifth chapter mainly examines the stylistic characteristics of "Erpai" poems.Based on the poems quoted in "Erpai",this paper probes into the stylistic features of the poems in "Erpai" from four aspects: the external form,style,expression,aesthetic object and aesthetic spiritThe sixth chapter explores the influence of "Erpai" on the later novels,taking Li Yu’s "Twelve Tower" and "Silent Play" in the Qing Dynasty as examples.By analyzing the influence of "Erpai" structure system and subjective consciousness on later novels to probe into the relationship between "Erpai" and later novels.
