“The Outline for the Construction of a Strong Sports Country” states that“the sportsmanship with Chinese characteristics should be integrated with the core values of socialism.” "Vigorously develop the construction of sports culture.Digging sports project characteristics, organizational culture, team spirit, etc.,to tell a good story of sports project culture." The “fighting spirit of the Chinese women’s volleyball team” presented in the sports film “Leap” is an important part of the sportsmanship with Chinese characteristics.Through the historical recreation and artistic narrative of the glorious journey of three generations of Chinese women’s volleyball teams, the film consciously recreates and reconstructs the audience’s collective memory. While recounting the development of the women’s volleyball team in a realistic narrative and collective memory construction paradigm, the film not only reflects the development of the country and the great changes of the times since the reform and opening up,but also constructs the collective memory of the Chinese women’s volleyball team and the “fighting spirit of the Chinese women’s volleyball team” among the audience. It is important to promote the sportsmanship with Chinese characteristics represented by the“fighting spirit of the Chinese women’s volleyball team” and strengthen national identity. The film “Leap” was selected as the object of this study.Using collective memory theory and national identity theory as perspectives, this study uses textual analysis to analyse the path and content of collective memory construction in the film“Leap”,It is found that“Leap”constructs the audience’s collective memory by three memory construction methods: realistic narrative, reproduction of characters and use of symbolic representation, and constructs the audience’s sense of national identity on four levels: national similarity and identity, national belonging, national loyalty and national ideal. The film recalls the glorious period of the old women’s volleyball team and focuses on the changes of the “ women’s volleyball spirit ” in the times. The reconstruction of three real matches in the film can strengthen the audience’s emotional resonance, thus enhancing their sense of national identity and giving connotation to the “women’s volleyball spirit” in the new era.Through logical analysis, the relationship between collective memory and national identity in “Leap” is found to be mutually reinforcing and enhancing, and there is a certain intersection between the two in terms of construction path and content。The study found that the reasons for the construction of collective memory and national identity in “Leap” are the efficiency of film distribution, the demand of the market environment and the national recognition of the Chinese women’s volleyball team and the “fighting spirit of the Chinese women’s volleyball team”.The study concludes that the collective memory and national identity constructed can strengthen the sense of sports identity and enriching the way of youth ideological education;promote the development of the “Three big-ball sports”;promote cultural confidence and enhance the national identity of the people;promote intercultural communication and build a community of human destiny. It also makes the following two suggestions: first,it is suggested that the film industry pay attention to the creation of sports films with realistic narratives and appropriately integrate elements of collective memory and national identity to enrich the number of sports films in China;second,it is suggested that the sports industry refine more sports spirits with project characteristics in the practice of each sport to enrich the connotation of Chinese sports spirits and make sports cultural stories more vivid.
