| Nowadays people live in a diversified society.In the process of talking with a variety of people,differences in social characteristics such as cultural background,personal personality and cognitive level will affect the expression and understanding of communicative content.Pragmatics and sociolinguistics can help to improve communication skills.The cooperation principle proposed by the philosopher Grice in his speech Logic and Conversation is one of the most important basic theories in the field of pragmatics,which is the key to describe and explain the nature of verbal communication in real life.The author selects the famous American sitcom Modern Family as the research corpus.From the perspective of the cooperation principle,through qualitative and quantitative analysis methods,the author analyzes the language habits of people with different social characteristics in this classic drama when they violate the cooperation principle.This paper first introduces the theoretical basis of the study:the cooperation principle and its four criteria,the violation of the cooperation principle and its conversational implications,and the previous studies on the application of the cooperation principle.And then the author introduces the story of "modern family"profile,and choose the roles of three groups of different social characteristics as the research object,respectively in violation of the cooperative principle in the process of dialogue to its frequency of the four criteria for observation and comparison of different time dimension,found that when the laws of the different social characteristics in violation of the cooperative principle and reason,Analyze,study and sort out the significance of language habits in interpersonal communication. |
