Report On A Comparative Analysis On The Quality Of Political News In Machine Translation

In recent years,the development of machine translation in domestic and foreign markets has become increasingly mature,and the quality of its translations has continued to improve.From the translator’s point of view,understanding machine translation and evaluating the quality of machine translation are essential for the process of improving personal translation skills.Meanwhile,this process can enhance the professional competitiveness of MTI graduates.For users,researching machine translation standards with strong translation readability,so as to further improve the practicability of machine translation systems,is an important way to comprehensively understand and improve the level of machine translation at home and abroad.Only by comparing the current domestic and foreign machine translation quality differences and their respective advantages more intuitively and accurately,can we analyze the more refined and suitable scenes corresponding to these machine translations.Therefore,the corpus of this article is based on some political news sections of the web version of The Wall Street Journal from 2020 to 2022.By comparing several mature machine translations at home and abroad(Google Translate,Bing Translator and CNKI Translator,all online tools),and conduct quality analysis and evaluation of the translations generated by these machine translations.According to this study,it can be found that these three machine translations could basically ensure the completeness of information in the process of political news,but there are word order errors in word order and common Chinese expressions,mistakes and omission of vocabulary,and syntactic structure.It can be known from the glossary collected by the author that in the comparative analysis of the three machine translations,Google’s fidelity and fluency are higher than Bing Translator and CNKI Translator.According to the five-point scoring standard,first of all,the overall translation quality of the three machine translations is acceptable,and the completeness of the information can basically be guaranteed,indicating that these three machine translations have certain applicability to the news of the political section of The all Street Journal.Secondly,in terms of the overall translation quality,the overall fluency of the three machine translations is slightly lower than the fidelity.Finally,comparing the translation quality between the three machine translations,Google Translate is the highest,Bing Microsoft Translator is better than CNKI Translator.Through the evaluation and analysis of the quality of the three machine translations,it is confirmed that Google Translate has the most mature development on the corpus,and the fastest update speed,so the quality is the highest.The corpus of Bing Translator is slightly smaller than that of Google Translate,so the accuracy of the translation is not as high as that of Google.However,CNKI Translator will mistranslate or miss translations of terms or proprietary words that are not entered in the corpus,such as Omicron.From the development status and level of machine translation at home and abroad,on the basis of analyzing the quality of machine translation,we can further look forward to the future development of machine translation and tend to improve the bilingual corpus,not only limited to English-Chinese translation,but also extended to other languages,so as to further improve the translation accuracy.
