Translation project management(TPM)is a systematic process that comprehensively optimizes knowledge, skills, tools and technologies to achieve translation objectives with high quality and efficiency through the allocation, management and control of resources. From the perspective of instrumental rationality, current research on translation project management is more relevant on technology’s end, while veiling the essence and existence of project participants. How to integrate the instrumental rationality and the value rationality in the process of translation management constitutes a novel proposition. The key is more of the integration and interaction between technical instrumentality and translator’s initiative. So far, research concerning this topic has been relatively rare and sparse. In view of this, this report intends to realize the integration of instrumental rationality and value rationality in the process of project management based on the Chinese-English translation project of Real Estate Economics hosted by the author. The project, which rests upon a systematic and scientific planning,is composed of three stages including pre-task preparation, control in translation and post-translation revision. The purpose is to promote value maintenance and appreciation of the project within resource constraints as well as activate the translators’ inner beliefs and unleash their potentials that strive for perfection, and realize their own value through the project.
