Duanmu Hongliang is a writer full of personality,he refined the "savage" fervid life force in the ancient land of Northeast China, turned it into the survival force needed by the nation, turned it into the "secret key" of human development, and his novel artistic conception is unique. The primitive vitality must be properly woven,in order to condense and sublimate into the nation and even the human needs of the source of power. We find that the realization of this transformation depends not only on Duanmu’s rational consideration, but also on a unique way of "savage mind" used in his structural novels. Therefore, the interpretation and analysis of the novel text from the perspective of "savage mind" has become an effective way to understand Duanmu’s novel and its ideological connotation. With the help of the theory of Claude Lévi-strauss,this thesis attempts to cut into Duanmu’s novels from the interdisciplinary perspective of cultural anthropology, and explore how he structured his novels with a kind of "savage mind",see through his unique artistic conception and ideological pursuit. The first chapter explores how "savage mind" helps "primitive vitality" to be transformed into "national vitality",and clarifies Duanmu’s conception of national rejuvenation.First, nature had evolved into a human totem of life, not only as an important spiritual force in people’s resistance to rape, but also as a key force in Volksgemeinschaft consciousness.Secondly, through a series of divine elements,Duanmu looked at all kinds of life with primitive characteristics and explored the national life style which is in line with the times. Finally,Duanmu picked up some symbols from the cultural memory shared by the northeast ethnic groups and even the Chinese nation,so as to enhance the national identity of the Chinese people and lead the primitive vitality to the road of national rise. The second chapter explores how "savage mind" sublimates "primitive vitality" into the key force of human survival and development from the perspective of synchrony, and analyzes the metaphor of human survival situation implied in the novel, understanding the artistic thinking of Duanmu.First,in synchronistic pictures,Duanmu predictd a bright future for Humanity: Ancient power has been handed down from generation to generation, and human beings have the eternal ability to self-renewal forever.Secondly, through the analysis of the deep structure of the novel,we find that Duanmu, based on the status quo of human existence, tried to check and balance the primitive vitality, and he constructed a goddess Utopia to reflect on the patriarchal culture. Finally,Duanmu presented many kinds of relations between man and the earth, and used it as a metaphor for human beings’ various living modes, inspiring human beings to rationally apply primitive vitality to the road of human development and rebuild their divine connection with the earth. The third chapter traces back to the origin of the "savage mind" in the novel from the perspective of subjectivity.First, the multiple traumatic experiences he had as a child in the northeast,as well as the multiple traumatic experiences he had as an adult, had a significant impact on Duanmu’s way of thinking.Second,Duanmu swam in the vast sea of literature, accumulating literary experience, feeling how this unique way of thinking enters the art world. Finally, this kind of non-rational thinking mode was regulated and guided by rational consciousness, and together with rational thinking,it constructs the picture of Duanmu’s artistic imagination. The conclusion sums up the advantages and disadvantages of Duanmu, and reflects the position of Duanmu in the history of literature by combining the textual expression of contemporary writers and the faint connection between Duanmu’s novels.
