A Study Of Death Consciousness In Huang Shun-yuan’s Novels

Huang Shunyuan entered the Korean literary scene during the Japanese colonial rule.He is one of the writers who try to visualize art through continuous creation.In 1931,he published “My Dream” in “Dong Guang”magazine,thus establishing his status as a writer.After that,he published several works,but none of them aroused strong repercussions in the society.It was not until his short story collection “Swamp”was published that Huang Shunyuan’s position in the literary world changed.His work has also become more mature and interesting.Huang Shunyuan’s 1960 s was a time of social unrest.Major social factions are trying to manage the chaos caused by politics,society and culture.During this period,Huang Shunyuan called on the young generation trapped in frustration and helplessness to get rid of their lost consciousness through their own efforts.From these aspects,we can see that most of Huang Shunyuan’s works are in line with the background of the times at that time.In this turbulent social environment,the most representative works are the novels “Trees Stand on Slope” and “The Sun and The Moon”in the 1960 s.The first novel in the 1960 s,“Trees Stand on the Slope”,tells the spiritual pain and contradiction of three young people caused by the war.The original innocence has long disappeared.In order to regain that innocence,the protagonist finally goes to death.Another novel in the1960 s,“The Sun and The Moon”,tells the decline of the old Shangzhen family,a newly rich man born in commoner.It can be seen that the cause of death comes from society.This paper takes Huang Shunyuan’s death consciousness in the tree standing on the slope and the sun and moon as the main research object.Using existential criticism to investigate Huang Shunyuan’s literature and death consciousness.And study the death consciousness in his novels in the 1960 s.This paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter describes the research object and purpose of this paper,combs the previous research,and points out the research methods and contents of this paper.The second chapter analyzes the death consciousness expressed in literature and the correlation between Huang Shunyuan and death.In most of Huang Shunyuan’s works,death is involved,and the actual existence and value of human beings are reflected in the problem of life and death.The third chapter analyzes the death caused by sin,the death of indirect phenomenon and the death of saving as an alternative in the tree standing on the slope and the sun and moon.It shows the death consciousness itself contained in the novel,the impact of war and the better life people yearn for.After the above research and investigation,the fourth chapter,on the premise of exploring what is the life that human beings aspire to,reviews the death consciousness in the work again and draws a conclusion.On the whole,Huang Shunyuan’s works fully reflect the realistic environment of the backward society.And the pain and loneliness people felt in those turbulent times.So that its social background makes people have to choose death.Based on the social background at that time,this paper studies a series of social problems that people turn pain and loneliness into death to save themselves.And how to get spiritual cure by overcoming death consciousness and death impulse is deeply investigated and analyzed.Finally,taking this phenomenon as the starting point,this paper focuses on the impact of death on the world and the reasons why people choose death.On this basis,it explores the relationship between life and death to show the author’s ideal world.
