In recent years, the number of foreign tourists in Shaanxi Province has increased, and the demand for translations of tourist attractions has been growing.Accurate and vivid translations of Shaanxi’s scenic spots will not only effectively meet the new demands of Shaanxi’s tourism development, dispel tourists’ confusion about unfamiliar attractions, enhance their visiting pleasure, and attract more foreign tourists, but also promote the development of the local tourism and economy. What’s more,it will help build up a good image of China’s tourist attractions to the outside world, promote traditional Chinese culture, strengthen cultural exchanges with the world, and thus enhance China’s cultural international influence.Skopos Theory is a translation theory that takes the overall translation behavior as the main factor in the translation process.Since the focus of translation of tourism texts is to convey information and infect readers,it allows translators to make appropriate adjustments and rewrites for better understanding on the basis of fully understanding the meaning of the original text and faithfully transmitting the information of the original text. Therefore, the Skopos Theory can provide a good theoretical guidance for the translation of tourism texts. The author of his translation practice report translates the introduction of the attractions of Kunming Lake and Famen Temple in Shaanxi based on the Skopos Theory to Nord, one of the main proponents of Skopos Theory, believes that the translation process must follow the Skopos rule, the Coherence rule and the Fidelity rule.Among them, the Skopos rule emphasizes the communicative purpose of the translation, the Coherence rule emphasizes that the translation must meet the standard of intralingual coherence, and the Fidelity rule emphasizes that the translation is consistent with the source text.Through the case study, the author focused on the analysis of four-character words,cultural-loaded words and quoted poems, aiming to choose a better translation strategy to extend the culture of Shaanxi and make the understanding of the historical heritage of Shaanxi more accessible to foreigners.Through this translation practice, the author realized that the translation of tourism texts requires a high level of linguistic skills, and the translator needs to be flexible in choosing translation strategies and translation methods to ensure the accuracy of the translation while conveying the information of tourist attractions and cultural connotations to make it more attractive to foreign tourists. Moreover, the author hopes that the translation of this tourism text can provide reference for the translation of similar texts in the future.
