| The research on teaching materials has always played an important role in the study of Teaching Chinese as a second language.Based on the concept of“combination of examination and teaching",the study of matching of quantitative indicators related to teaching materials with syllabus and examination is also an important part of this research. The International Chinese Language Education Standards for Chinese Language Proficiency issued in March 2021 is improved on the basis of the original syllabus,so the revision and compilation of textbooks under the guidance of the new standards is an important work.In this thesis,we will take the new standards as a reference, compare the overlap between textbooks and the new standards from the three quantitative indicators of vocabulary, grammar and topic. Also,we will explore the characteristics of the compilation of textbooks,so as to provide relevant data reference and suggestions for the revision and compilation of new textbooks.Through exploration, analysis and statistics,we mainly draw the following conclusions:In terms of vocabulary,1094 new words in the textbook coincide with the words in the elementary stage of the new standards. In the first volume, there are 393 first-level words,267 second-level words and 116 third-level words. The rate of words which are not in the elementary stage is 13%in this textbook. In the second volume, there are only 33 first-level words,133 second-level words and 152 third-level words with a high rate of new words over elementary stage. In terms of grammar,Developing Chinese(Elementary Comprehensive)has 191 language points, among which 144 are in the elementary grammar register outline. The textbook lacks 2 first-level language points,14 second-level language points and 17 third-level language points. The coverage rate of grade Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ grammar points and textbooks in the new standards is 96%,83%and79%respectively.On the whole, the language points of level 1 and level 2 are well implemented in the teaching materials, and language points of level 3 need to be added. In terms of topics,16 topics are totally included in Developing Chinese(Ⅰ),14 of which are in the primary stage of the new standards. There are 16 topics in Developing Chinese(Ⅱ),9 of which are in the primary stage. Therefore, and the topics in the second volume of the textbook are more difficult.Through analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the arrangement of each part of the textbook from different dimensions,we put forward some suggestions to improve the textbook. On vocabulary, firstly we should increase the vocabulary of primary teaching materials while maintaining the control of the number of new words in each lesson;secondly new words in textbooks covered in the primary stage of the new standards should be increased;thirdly we should improve the recurrence rate of key words in textbooks. On grammar arrangement, teachers and students should pay attention to the hidden language points in the teaching materials, improve the coincidence rate between the teaching materials and the new standards, and include other grammar items in the primary stage as much as possible while controlling a certain amount grammar points beyond the teaching syllabus. In terms of the topic setting, while presenting the topic theme, the text should be more interesting, and cultural topics should be added to balance the distribution of various topics in the textbook.Topics suitable for elementary learners should be increased while difficulty of topics should be decreased appropriately. |
