| The goal of the ontology of art is to clarify the being of art.The content of this thesis is mainly composed of the following three parts: the traditional ontology of art which represented by Plato and Hegel, the reflection on the traditional ontology of art that represented by Heidegger, and a new ontology of art.In terms of method, this exploration cannot first discuss the ontological problems in traditional philosophy and then give a genealogical description of its influence in the field of art,but should start from the perspective of the truth of art.The relationship between truth and being in art is expressed in the traditional ontology of art as the history of ’art seeking truth’;in Heidegger,it turns into the demand of being and truth for art, while in the new ontology of art, this relationship is more directly revealed as the ’same source’of art, being and truth. The first chapter of the thesis is to reveal the essential feature of traditional ontology of art based on the correspondence theory and its effects in art.Although the requirement of correspondence in art has been put forward from the beginning, art itself does not accept this theory of truth, which is proved by the various difficulties encountered by correspondence theory when it expands into the field of art.Plato’s theory of mimesis regards art as something’separated by three layers from truth’,and Hegel predicted ’the end of art’ according to the law of development of the absolute idea(truth). For these theories, since it is always the ’ontologies’ presupposed by traditional ontology as sources of meaning that are important rather than the art itself, the existence of art is only ’just so’ for them.Art is regarded as a tool for realizing meaning with works, and art always has only instrumental value in this traditional ontology. This is the essential feature of traditional ontology of art.The second chapter of the thesis is to reflect on the above traditional art ontology with the help of Heidegger’s ontology and art theory. For Heidegger, the question of being and the question of truth are two sides of the same coin, and this relationship is most evident in art.Heidegger takes ’aletheia’ as the core of his theory of truth, but in fact ’the identity theory of truth’ shows more clearly the difference between Heidegger and traditional ontology of art. However, although the relationship between truth and art has been softened, the truth is neither willing to rely on a work, but has to rely on a work. The swing of Heideggee’s attitude towards works and the consequent fact that take the work as a foothold rather than a container indicate that some self-evident premises set by the traditional ontology of art for art still affect his views on art in some way,so Heidegger can only serve as a signpost rather than an end point for the exploration of the ontology of art.The third chapter of the thesis is to try to explore a new ontology of art on the basis of the previous studies. As far as this new ontology of art is concerned, its core concept is ’art as techne’.This view comes from the ancient Greeks’ understanding of art.Art is not something that requires a work to prove its being,it is techne in which takes place a state of commitment. And within the framework of this ontology of art, commitment also means ’vital strive’.The phenomenon of ’vital strive’ prepares the conditions for the appearance of ’authenticity’,which is more authentic than truth. The reflection on the philosophy of art is the preparatory work to end the traditional ontology of art in the perspective of the new ontology of art.It should be carried out with the ’definition of art’ and ’taste of art’ as the core, because these two issues are respectively corresponding to the questions of ’being’ and ’truth’ that are crucial in the entire exploration of the ontology of art.In terms of ’definition of art’,not only the ’expression’ and’creation’ in the traditional definition of art need to be reinterpreted, but the problem of ’the definition of art’ itself should be resolved, because ’art’ is the ’being’ itself, and it should be the copula in all definitions and not the subject in some definitions. In terms of the taste of art,the fact that people recognize the universality and particularity of taste at the same time just proves that there is ’vital authenticity’ in art.On the basis of all these preparations, traditional ontology of art should end in ready-made art and Danto’s ’the end of art theory’,the latter also means that traditional ontology of art has reached its ultimate form. The discussion of why video games are art is placed last,as an application of the ontology of art,it responds to the state of commitment that occurs in art with an emphasis on the state of ’let be’ that occurs in games. |
