Exploration Of Composing Narrative Symphony <Puyi>

Puyi was the last emperor of China,and his life was full of drama.Published his autobiography <From Emperor to Citizen> in his later years.Taking this book as a narrative blueprint,I divided the text into three parts: the late Qing Dynasty,the Puppet Manchu period,and the New China period.Combining characters,ethnic elements,theme motiv and other elements,I composed the<Puyi> Ballade Symphony Suite.The first movement "Forbidden City",the second movement"Puppet" and the third movement “Re-Born".Studying this set of works and theoretically summarizing the elements in the works has a positive impact on the re-creation of the works.To have a more accurate control of the connotation of narrative music,it is indispensable to study the combination of narrative text and music form.This paper will analyze the musical form(form,material,tonality,harmony,polyphony,orchestration)of the three movements of the <Puyi> narrative symphony suite,and analyze the story characters,scenes,and era backgrounds in the narrative text.Conduct research,sort out the logical driving force and theoretical methods behind the creation of<Pu Yi>,and then discuss the experience after creation in combination with the application of techniques such as Leitmotiv and ground bass in music creation.
