Chinese schools are funded and set up by overseas Chinese and their children living overseas,with the aim of preserving and inheriting Chinese culture,and Chinese education is based on Chinese schools.Therefore,the quality of Chinese schools will affect the teaching effect of Chinese to a great extent.Among the many century-old Chinese schools in the world,the Philippines accounts for 14.Among them,the first Chinese school,Little Luzon Daqing Tiong Se Academy(now known as "Tiong Se Academy")has been in operation for 123 years.During this period,it has experienced ups and downs but still surviving in the local area,its school-running model must have its merits.This paper takes the Tiong Se Academy as the research object.First,through the characteristics of the school-running model in different periods,it is divided into the initial period of the improved private school system,the development period of the multi-school system,the short half-day tortuous period,the low tide period of emphasizing on English but not Chinese,and the transition period of Chinese education and the rising period of the teaching reform system.Secondly,the current situation is investigated from six aspects:funding sources,infrastructure,administrative departments,teaching staff,student composition and teaching mode.On this basis,the regular pattern of historical evolution is summarized,showing that funding sources have changed from monotonous to abundant,and infrastructure has changed from lack to complete,administrative departments from simple to detailed,faculty from non-professional to professional,student composition from single to diverse,teaching mode from traditional to modern trends.Furthermore,analyze the main driving forces of Tiong Se Academy in the course of running a school in the past century,and choose the three main driving forces of the Chinese government and the Ministry of Education,Chinese associations and other organizations and Chinese schools which named as"national policy guarantee type","Chinese association mutual aid type" and "Private school self-reliance type",but not only one kind of force dominates in different periods,so we can deduce "policy guarantee and community mutual assistance type","community mutual assistance and school self-reliance type","policy guarantee and school self-reliance type","multiple forces-driven type" "Equal force model,and then analyze the law of driving force change.Finally,based on the feedback from the parents of the students,summarize the problems that still exist in the school at this stage,and try to put forward corresponding improvement strategies.
