Writing,as a crucial part of five language skills known as listening,speaking,viewing,reading and writing,not only forms the concrete foundation of English teaching,but also turns out to be an skill worth comprehensive mastering and immaculate applying for students.So far,there are various researches focusing on teaching methodologies,but still,few unified conclusions can be viewed,not only on the evaluation on the efficiency of written feedback presented by teachers,but also comparing evaluation on students of different educational levels.Based on the noticing hypothesis and the output hypothesis,this study applies feedback-modification model and the process writing approach to evaluate various forms of feedback on English writing of students at different educational levels.The main purpose of this study is to explore the answers to the two questions about written corrective feedback: 1.Are direct feedback and indirect feedback effective? 2.Which way of teachers’ feedback is more effective for students with different English levels?The researcher randomly took a total of 60 students in the senior grade one of Zunyi No.2 senior high school as the research participants,divided the students into direct feedback groups and indirect feedback groups,and then conducted a ten-week writing training of writing-feedback.At the end of the training,SPSS are used to analyze and discuss the experimental data.The findings of the study are as follows : First,both direct feedback and indirect feedback can significantly improve the students’ English writing level.There is no obvious difference between direct feedback and indirect feedback.Secondly,for students with different English proficiency,there is no significant difference between direct feedback and indirect feedback,and it can be seen from the data that the effectiveness of direct feedback for higher students is slightly better than indirect feedback.At the same time,the result of interview shows that students have positive attitudes towards teacher feedback.They expect teacher to give feedback and be able to revise their compositions based on feedback.They also hope teacher could give them feedback on the vocabulary,sentence form,grammar,and content structure and so on,and for the difficult grammatical errors,the students also hope that the teacher could explain them face-to-face.Finally,this researcher raises some suggestions on English writing teaching.In the future teaching,the researcher will continue to study writing feedback,hoping to provide further supports on this aspect through research.
