| This report is based on the simultaneous interpretation practice of the academic lecture,“Promoting National Language Capacity to Build a Chinese National Community and a Community of Shared Future for Mankind” presented by Wen Qiufang.The lecture addresses several topics of national language capacity,a community of shared future for mankind,and the Chinese National Community.The task of this interpreting practice is to convey all the information accurately and vividly to the English audience.The theoretical framework of this report is Gile’s Effort Model Theory.This theory aims to help interpreters coordinate energy by using some tactics during simultaneous interpreting to improve the interpreting’ quality and efficiency.The report is divided into four sections.The first section is titled Introduction,which discusses the background information,language features,and importance of this academic lecture.Process Description is the second section,and it covers pre-interpreting,interpreting,and post-interpreting processes.The third chapter is Case Analysis.This chapter first explains Gile’s Effort Models Theory’s primary principle and three basic models,then analyzes some typical cases in interpreting and proposes the difficulties in listening and analysis,short-term memory,and speech production.Related strategies,such as guessing strategy,visualization,and deverbalization,are put forward accordingly.The fourth chapter is Conclusion,which summarizes the interpreting difficulties and solutions,and points out the limitations and implications of this report. |
