Shanghai dialect,commonly known as Shanghai dialect and Shanghai slang,is one of the representative elements of Shanghai style culture.In today’s society,on the one hand,with the popularization of Mandarin,the number of people using Shanghai dialect is gradually decreasing,and the younger generation of Shanghainese cannot speak authentic Shanghai dialect.On the other hand,due to the regional characteristics of the language itself,it is difficult for non Shanghai natives to distinguish and master it,making it somewhat limited in the process of dissemination.The author mainly wants to convey the Shanghai dialect through visual design,using the unique fine art character structure of Shanghai,and combining the context of Shanghai dialect to visually present the Shanghai dialect to the public.Through the visual design of dialects,readers can not only understand the Shanghai dialect,but also play a role in inheriting the Shanghai dialect.This article is a study on the visual design and application of Shanghainese.The author has a deep understanding of the development process and language characteristics of Shanghai dialect,and explored its cultural connotation and design value.First of all,the author combines the old Shanghai fine art characters with the Shanghai dialect fonts,and visually creates them based on the changes in the shape of the dialect itself and the expression of the meaning of the dialect characters,deducing the interrelationship between fonts and graphics.Secondly,the author summarizes the methods of regular graphic font design based on the structural characteristics of strokes inherent in fine art characters,and then summarizes the characteristics of glyphs and strokes.According to the characteristics of the Shanghai dialect itself,it can be divided into three categories and different forms of expression.The first type of loanwords’ influence on Shanghai dialect is mainly displayed through static visual posters;The second type of digital complex in Shanghai dialect is mainly developed in the form of dynamic posters;The third type of common daily expressions in Shanghai dialect is expressed in the form of font expression packs.Finally,the author takes a specific design work as an example to analyze and summarize the performance characteristics and design methods of combining words and graphics in dialect visual design.Analyze the common application forms of dialect visual design,and apply the design to publicity and promotion to promote the inheritance and development of Shanghai dialect.
