| The names of Shanghai subway stations contain rich language knowledge and cultural knowledge.They are also the corpus that international students will come into contact with in their daily trips,which can be used as teaching materials for international Chinese education and give full play to its value.Based on Shanghai subway station names and combining with sociolinguistic theories,this paper analyzes the naming methods,language elements and cultural characteristics reflected in Shanghai subway station names,and conducts a questionnaire survey on Chinese learners’ cognition and learning needs of Shanghai subway station names.According to the survey analysis and questionnaire analysis results of Shanghai subway station names,The appropriate Shanghai subway station names are selected as teaching resources and relevant teaching design is carried out.From the point of view of naming methods and language elements of station names,407 subway station names are divided into four categories: road names,area names,landmark places names and other names.From the perspective of phonetics,vocabulary,grammar and word composition,the results show that Shanghai subway station names are mostly three-syllable,oblique and changeable,there is a change of tone;The vocabulary structure is mainly "proper name + general name".The general name vocabulary is mainly composed of the general name of the physical geographical entity,the general name of the settlement,etc.,and the proper name vocabulary is composed of the name of the administrative division,the name of the mountain,the name of the river,etc.The rich parts of words are mostly content words,which are mainly formal in the structural relation.Shanghai subway station names are mainly grade-A characters with a high repetition rate and a variety of characters.There are also distinctive characters such as "jing","Pu" and "Xincun".Based on the above research conclusions and related geographical names,this paper further analyzes the cultural connotation and social psychology reflected by subway station names.The cultural connotation includes the historical culture composed of colonial culture and revolutionary culture,the water culture composed of river and lake culture and ocean culture,and the unique regional culture composed of immigration culture and trade culture.Social psychology includes the east of the Chinese nation for respect,the west for inferiority,in the middle of the orientation of the concept and people’s patriotic psychology.Through the questionnaire,the cognitive status and learning needs of Chinese learners on Shanghai subway station names are understood.The results show that Chinese learners have a certain understanding of some language elements and the culture reflected in the names of Shanghai subway stations,but there are shortcomings.Moreover,they hold a positive attitude towards the application of subway station names in international Chinese education classes,and are interested in station names related to tourism and shopping.Based on this,the paper carries out related teaching design.First,it focuses on the oral English teaching of tourist subway stations,and hopes to test the teaching results by field visits.The second is the combination of Chinese character class and cultural teaching,taking the Chinese characters related to "water" in the names of Shanghai subway stations and station names as the teaching content,to help learn and experience the culture of Shanghai’s rivers and lakes. |
