Since the 21 st century,as China has entered an aging society and the degree of aging has been deepening,aging has become an important social issue.As an important medium to reflect social reality,films about the elderly have gradually changed from a popular theme to an important film and television cultural phenomenon in recent years.This paper uses case analysis and literature research methods to study the status of Chinese films about the elderly since the 21 st century,the artistic characteristics of the films about the elderly,and the narrative strategies and image presentation of the films about the elderly.It is found that most of the Chinese films about the elderly since the 21 st century focus on intergenerational conflict and death,and at the same time,due to the influence of youth worship culture,The image of the elderly portrayed in the film is also dominated by negative images.In terms of specific narrative strategies,the narrative techniques tend to be realistic,emphasizing the details of the plot and expressing the theme of the film.While summarizing and summarizing the narrative strategy and image presentation of China’s films on the theme of the elderly,it also expounds the creative process and thinking of the author’s graduation work "The West Lake has no shore",analyzes his own creative process,and discusses the thinking on the narrative strategy,narrative time and space,character image shaping and audio-visual elements application,and looks for the shortcomings of the work,so as to provide reference for the creation of other films on the theme of the elderly.
