As a subject of landscape painting,"Waiting for the Crossing" was first recorded in Wang Wei’s "Waiting for the Crossing with Snow Scenery" in Xuanhe Painting Score Volume10.It mainly depicts a group of people or a person waiting for the ferry to cross the river on the bank.Painters generally place the scene of waiting for the ferry in their paintings in the landscape nature with lofty and distant,desolate and cold,and deep artistic conception.Combining the scene of waiting for the ferry with the natural landscape as a point of view has become an important theme of expression in the creation of landscape painting.In the Song Dynasty,landscape painting of waiting to cross the river began to prevail,involving rich content,or traveling by boat,or home,or official,this paper will study the time set in the Song Dynasty landscape painting to cross the river,the political,economic,cultural background of the Song Dynasty analysis,solve the problem of why landscape painting to cross the river prospering in the Song Dynasty,and will be classified and compared.Then it makes a comparative analysis of the composition of the scene of waiting for the crossing in the Song Dynasty in different shapes and systems,as well as the influence of the landscape painting of waiting for the crossing on later generations.
