Li Dazhao is a great Marxist in China. He introduced and developed Marxist historical materialism in the process of rapid transformation of modern Chinese society.Because of the theoretical character of “changing the world” inherent in Marxism,it is more important to clarify its own “thought” in the construction and development, and more importantly in the transformation of the world.Li Dazhao was determined to seek the road of rejuvenation for the poor and weak old China.Through the preparation for the establishment of the Communist Party of China,he personally participated in the revolutionary struggle, took historical materialism as his ideological weapon, and constantly innovated the path of historical materialism in China.Exploring the road of saving the country and saving the people, its achievements are mainly reflected in three aspects: First,in the propaganda and research of Marxism, historical materialism is placed in the first place, and historical materialism is used as a microscope and telescope to observe Chinese history and reality, and initially have a rational understanding of the future and destiny of old China;Second,in exploring the road of reforming the old Chinese society and culture,he saw the place where Chinese traditional culture and historical materialism fit,and began to explore the combination of historical materialism and excellent traditional culture.Third,in the practice of Chinese revolution guided by historical materialism,he further realized the particularity of China, such as the problem of farmers, and began a preliminary attempt to combine historical materialism with the particularity of Chinese revolution.Li Dazhao used historical materialism to prospectively see the “living” places in Chinese traditional culture. In these “living” places,Li Dazhao completed the landing and rooting of historical materialism in Chinese society. He also saw the “living” of historical materialism theory in the combination with the reality of Chinese revolution, which made historical materialism full of vitality in China and started the initial attempt of Sinicization and modernization of Marxism earlier. The sinicization of Marxism in China has gone through more than one hundred years.“Two combinations” is a regular cognition of the experience of one hundred years of party history. The Chinese Communists have deeply realized that only by using Marxist world outlook and methodology to help deal with the difficulties encountered in development and improve the Chinese characteristics of Marxism can the tree of Marxist truth be firmly rooted in China.Under the background of the new era, this paper studies Li Dazhao’s thought of historical materialism from the perspective of“two combinations” experience, reveals the historical background of his social consciousness of “where is China going”based on the social existence of China’s weak and poor, and clarifies the historical logic of Li Dazhao’s transformation of historical materialism to traditional historical materialism in this way-finding process,as well as the affinity of the inherent practical character, mass historical view and social ideal of historical materialism with the traditional culture,people-oriented thought and Datong ideal. This paper expounds the historical inevitability of Li Dazhao’s ability to take root and blossom in China. In order to dig deeper into the convergence of Marxism with China’s specific reality and excellent traditional culture,we can better understand Li Dazhao’s introduction and development of historical materialism, summarize its historical experience of endowing Marxism with Chinese characteristics, trying to modernize Marxism in China, and maintaining the vitality and vitality of Marxism.
