In recent years,the cultivation of students’ core literacy has become a hot topic.In 2022,the Ministry of Education has promulgated the curriculum standards for compulsory education and proposed that the core quality of English in the stage of compulsory education includes language ability,cultural awareness,quality of thinking and learning ability.Teachers shouldn’t ignore them in writing teaching.Through long-term writing training,students can effectively enrich their basic language knowledge,improve their logical thinking ability,increase their knowledge of excellent Chinese and foreign culture and improve their learning ability.However,there are few researches on the combination of writing and English core literacy.It is worth exploring the current situation of the cultivation of core English literacy in the teaching of English writing in junior high school.What are the problems?what are the reasons for these problems?and what strategies should be adopted to cultivate students’ core English literacy?Guided by humanistic education theory and constructivism learning theory,this study adopts questionnaire survey,classroom observation and interview methods to explore three main questions:(1)What are the problems in English writing of junior high school students from the perspective of English core literacy?(2)What are the causes of these problems?(3)What are the strategies to improve students’ English core literacy?Through investigation,the author found the problems existing in junior high school students’ English writing from the perspective of core English literacy include the following aspects.First,students lack of basic knowledge of English language and writing;Second,students can’t develop their logical,critical and creative thinking evenly.Third,Students’ cultural awareness is weak and English expression is not authentic.Fourth,Students’ learning style is improper and the learning channel is narrow.The author analyzes the causes of these problems from two dimensions.For Teachers,teachers lack of the cognition of English core quality;The teaching method is relatively single;The integration of teaching resources is not abundant;Most of the time,teachers didn’t explain the writing skills in class;Writing evaluation subject and way is single,evaluation content is not comprehensive.For students,students lack of good English writing habits;Students lack of good English writing attitude;Students lack of proper English writing motivation;Students lack of long-term interest in English writing.In view of the above problems and reasons,the author puts forward corresponding strategies:for teachers,strengthen learning and reflection,improve teaching methods,integrate teaching resources;strengthen the explanation of writing skills;establish a writing teaching evaluation system.For students,boost the driving force of English output;increase their own cross-culture awareness;improve learning methods and enrich learning channels;develop good English writing habits,develop a correct attitude towards English writing.
