| English reading ability is an important basis for the development of other language abilities.The purpose of senior high school English teaching is to cultivate students’ core qualities,guide students to think deeply in reading,feel the charm of multiple culture,cultivate correct values,improve students’ reading ability and thinking quality,and promote students’ all-round development.However,for a long time,under the exam-oriented education system,many teachers only pay attention to the teaching of knowledge and exam-oriented skills,but neglect to guide and train students to use deep learning strategies.Deep learning strategy not only focuses on students’ active participation in learning,knowledge integration,transfer and innovation,and creative problem solving,but also encourages students to conduct meaningful learning and cultivate their own advanced thinking quality.Therefore,based on deep learning strategy,combining the current situation of English reading for senior high school students,this study aims to solve the following research questions through action research:1.What is the effect of English reading teaching based on deep learning strategy on senior high school students’ reading interest?2.What is the effect of English reading teaching based on deep learning strategy on senior high school students’ reading ability?To solve the above two questions,this study selects 40 students of Grade One from a senior high school in Shenyang,Liaoning Province as the research subjects.16 weeks of two-round action research are designed based on deep learning strategy,through the pre-evaluation strategy,knowledge integration strategy,evaluation strategy to carry on the teaching practice.The research instruments are test,interview and questionnaire,and a comparative analysis is conducted after data collection.The author makes use of SPSS 23.0 to analyze data and the research results show that senior high school English reading teaching based on deep learning strategy can improve students’ reading ability,stimulate their reading interest and improve their reading performance.The action research mainly concludes from the following findings.First,reading teaching based on deep learning strategy can improve students’ English reading ability,which is mainly reflected in the improvement of students’ reading performance and their high-level thinking quality.In addition,reading teaching based on deep learning strategy can also enhance students’ interest in English reading.There are also some problems in the action research,such as the study period is short and sample size is small.In the future,such studies should focus on expanding the sample size and extending the study period.This study provides some reference for teachers to improve the teaching practice of students’ English reading ability,and also provides some inspiration for the reform of senior high school English classroom teaching. |
