The problem of poor teaching effect on art students under the traditional college English teaching mode has been perplexing college English teaching.In order to change this dilemma,college English Stage Teaching appears as one of the countermeasures.The Stage Teaching is a reform of college English teaching for art students in the Northwest Minzu University,and it has gone through 10 years.In 2018,the Stage Teaching of Northwest Minzu University expanded the teaching mode to ethnic students majoring in Chinese.In order to obtain the opinions of students on the reformed college English Stage Teaching and the relevant influencing factors of college English Stage Teaching,the author has conducted this research.This thesis adopts the methods of questionnaire,interview,and classroom observation to comprehensively collect data from all the 2020 undergraduates majoring in art and ethnic Chinese majors in the Northwest Minzu University to answer three research questions.1.What are the students’ opinions on the Stage Teaching?2.What is the correlation between cognitive factor and the Stage Teaching effectiveness? And what is the correlation between emotional factor and the Stage Teaching effectiveness?3.What are differences in cognitive factor and emotional factor between ethnic students majoring in Chinese and art students?Through this research,the author found the following facts.Firstly,students generally believe that the Stage Teaching can stimulate their interest in English learning,and most students have a positive attitude towards it.Secondly,cognitive factor and emotional factor are significantly positively correlated with students’ academic performance in the Stage Teaching,and the influence of emotional factor is stronger than that of a cognitive factor.Thirdly,cognitive factor and emotional factor both play a considerable role in ethnic students majoring in Chinese and art students,but the influence on cognitive factor and emotional factor of art students is greater than that on ethnic students majoring in Chinese.
