Jade carving,as one of the major types of carving in China,has formed a distinct historical inheritance and culture,and there are many schools of jade carving,which can be roughly divided into the north school and the south school.The Northern Faction is represented by Beijing and covers North China and Xinjiang.The southern faction includes the area south of the Yangtze River,including suzhou gong,Haipai,Guangdong faction,Min faction and so on.Jade culture is deeply rooted in the hearts of the Chinese people,from the ancient royal exclusive to today’s people,jade shape has undergone tremendous changes.Today’s contemporary jade carving is based on the creation of contemporary jade carving artists as the main force of creation,using contemporary perspectives and expression techniques.Artists express their thoughts,ideas,and new insights through materials and sculptural techniques.Through the works carved out of jade,to find their own way of sound,jump out of the traditional Guanyin,Buddha as the representative of the thinking constraints,beyond the barriers,with their own sculptural language.Today,the rise of contemporary jade carving has a very strong impact on the traditional jade carving industry.In today’s economic downturn,there are many jade carvers who graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts,and after undergoing systematic art teaching and training,such jade carvers have created many new forms of carvings.Contemporary jade carving is moving in a new direction of creation,and the combination with many materials has made this material burst out of various forms of creation today,because of the ancient,but not the ancient.According to the rules of the ancients,open your own life.Contemporary jade carving not only inherits traditional Chinese culture,but also integrates many contemporary art elements Reflect today’s zeitgeist and aesthetic orientation.In turn,it keeps pace with the times and gradually becomes a style.Based on this phenomenon,this paper takes the innovation and inheritance of contemporary jade carving as the research object.First of all,in the first chapter,the content and research significance of the selected topic are briefly sorted out,and in the second chapter,the characteristics of contemporary jade carving are sorted out.In today’s case of rising prices of jade materials and advanced production technology,contemporary jade carving presents a new design language and creative methods.In this chapter,I expound on the creative characteristics of contemporary jade carving from two perspectives.The third chapter sorts out the breakthroughs and inheritances presented by contemporary jade carving.Secondly,the two aspects of contemporary jade carving and traditional jade carving are embedded in the perspective of artistic practice,and the characteristics of traditional jade carving art and the new jade carving creation that appear in the contemporary context are compared to find the intersection of the two and the new characteristics of contemporary jade carving.Finally,in the fourth chapter,through the summary and reflection of the above research,combined with personal creative practice.Therefore,it is expected to explore the follow-up research more deeply and provide a more valuable reference for the current jade carving art creation.
