| Chinese martial arts are an excellent carrier of traditional culture in China, and the inheritance and dissemination of martial arts culture is of great significance for consolidating national cultural confidence and promoting cultural development. The development of martial arts cannot be separated from the assistance of martial arts talents, and the selection and cultivation direction of martial arts talents determines the direction of martial arts development. The martial arts examination system,as a system specifically designed for selecting military generals in ancient imperial examination systems,is the origin of the martial arts talent selection and training system, promoting the inheritance and development of Chinese martial arts. The martial arts examination system underwent thousands of years of development during the Qing Dynasty and rapidly declined and abolished during this period. Its significant changes in development are worth pondering. This article uses literature research, historical research, comparative research methods, and other methods to study the martial arts examination system of the Qing Dynasty as the research object. It analyzes the performance, reasons, and impact on martial arts during the manufacturing and decay periods of the Qing Dynasty’s martial arts examination system, explores the inspiration for the selection and cultivation of contemporary martial arts talents, and concludes that:1.Against the backdrop of internal and external troubles in the early Qing Dynasty, the ruling class implemented the martial arts examination system in order to consolidate imperial power and improved it.This was mainly reflected in the more standardized examination process, which was divided into four levels: the martial arts examination, the township examination, the imperial examination, and the palace examination; The exam content emphasizes both civil and martial arts, with emphasis on both the outer and inner fields; The assessment and evaluation standards will be adjusted more reasonably and strictly based on actual circumstances; Finally, the official rank will be awarded and upgraded to the third rank,in order to attract numerous martial arts practitioners to participate in the exam and select military martial arts talents; The number of admissions is even higher than the previous total. This has greatly promoted the "martial arts" culture, improved the cultural quality of martial arts talents, promoted the development of traditional martial arts, maintained national unity and stability, and promoted the development of the martial arts examination system to the extreme. However, the martial arts examination system is limited to the selection of military martial arts talents, which limits the diversified development of martial arts and hinders its healthy development.2.The decline of the government in the mid to late Qing Dynasty and the arrival of the firearms era revealed the drawbacks of the martial arts examination system. The examination content of the martial arts examination system itself could not meet the demand for talent in the firearms era,and the scarcity of official positions hindered the development of the martial arts jinshi, resulting in unfair opportunities for entering the government, such as buying officials. The reform of the martial arts examination system itself failed multiple times and was unable to save it;Secondly, the corruption and internal strife of the Qing government, the use of firearms, and the establishment of new military schools all hindered the continued implementation of the military examination system, directly leading to the decay and abolition of the system. The decline of the martial arts examination system in the Qing Dynasty led to a decline in the status of martial arts, resulting in a lack of attention to martial arts talents and limited development of martial arts. But at the same time,it also stimulated national awakening, and martial arts began to develop in a diversified way, promoting the healthy development of martial arts.3.Through research and analysis,we can draw inspiration for the selection and cultivation of contemporary martial arts talents.Firstly, for the selection of martial arts talents, the selection criteria should be adapted to national development, meet social needs, and emphasize scientificity; The selection process should safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of talents, resist injustice, and pay attention to fairness; The assessment content should promote the comprehensive quality of martial arts talents, promote martial arts culture, and be comprehensive. For the cultivation of martial arts talents: The training goal should revolve around inheriting martial arts culture and promoting the employment of martial arts talents to meet social needs; The training content should not only meet the training objectives, but also meet the needs of talent development and employment; Finally,to play the role of the state, the state should provide policy assistance for the cultivation of martial arts talents and support their learning and employment. |
